Sweet November June Release Preview - Day Four

We've saved the "Fairest" Little Princess for the final day of the Sweet November June Release.  Miss Margriet is fair of skin with hair as black as ebony.  Remind you of anyone?

How could I not color this dear princess to resemble the beloved Snow White?  What little girl, or big girl for that matter, wouldn't like to open a card with the sentiment, "You're the fairest of them All"?  I used a printed digi frame to create a mirror upon which to place the sentiment.  I used grey chalks to give a slight ripple effect to the mirror.  Despite having many layers, the design is simple.  However, the card is bold with the addition of the rather large yellow and white checkered bow.

Sweet November June Release Preview - Day Three

Sweet Little Princess Williamina is inviting you to a Princess Party!  She's wearing her favorite pink party dress and has the ballroom decorated with gorgeous pink and yellow flowers.  She even had the castle staff add some pearls and glitter around the room for extra sparkle.  Won't you accept her precious plea and attend her gala?

The underskirt portion of Williamina's dress is paper pieced.  A glittered trim (colored yellow with Copics) was added to the Vintage Floral border.  I also colored the top corner embellishments with Copics and layered them over the same pink paper framing Williamina.  The banner and wording were printed off the computer, hand cut, and raised with foam dots.

Sweet November June Release Preview - Day Two

Today we meet the proper and reserved Little Princess Eleonore.  With the castle's banners flying high behind her, it's her duty to greet the guests arriving for the knights' tournament.  Will she meet her future husband today?

Since I didn't want the scene to overwhelm Elenore, I kept the castle (a digi by Kinley's Scraps) as a graphic black and white image.  The sentiment is from Create with TLC.  To give Elenore a more formal and regal look, I drew a design on the front of her skirt with a Spica glitter pen.

Sweet November June Release Preview - Day One

Meet Little Princess Gwendolyn!  She is the first of four little princesses by the talented Amy Young of Sweet November Stamps.  Holding her skirt up so as not to soil the hem, little Gwendolyn is daintily walking through her garden of flowers.  Will she pick one or two to take back to the castle, or will she be content to leave them in the garden for all to enjoy?

I paper pieced Gwnedolyn's dress, and added just a hint of shading with Copics.  The flower stems and frame were cut with my Silhouette.  The flowers are brads with a gold pearl added to each center.  The sun was hand cut from a printed digi paper, and the cloud/sky background is also a printed digi paper.  A puffed bird and a sentiment finished the card.

At the Beach

Yes, my creativity is still being influenced by my recent vacation.  My brain continues to think...water, sun, sand, etc.  So, with beach life remaining front and center in my stream of consciousness, I decided to color up Miss Rebecca.  I've loved this little Mashi's Muffins, Reading Rebecca, ever since she was introduced last June.  However, she was only available in rubber until this April.  Was I ever a happy gal when All That Scraps announced the Mashi's Muffins and Laugh Lines would now be issued as digis as well as rubber (my pocketbook took a severe hit that day)!  Anyway, back to the card...Rebecca's towel is paper pieced and her glasses were colored with a Clear Star Gelly Roll pen.  The layout is the Sweet Sunday Sketch #184, and I actually finished the card in time to enter the challenge.

Josie and Jilly's Chat

Today's card is the final for the May 2013 Sweet November Stamp Release (whimper, sigh...have I mentioned I'm addicted to Fairwees?).  But I cannot be too sad with these two sweet little Fairwees calling!  I altered Josie and Jilly's Chat by adding the "Hello" to their can line.  This was one of those cards that went through many drafts (you should have seen the sticky glue residue on my hands from all the times I pulled the layers apart, lol).  In the end, I fussy cut the image, and am pleased with the final card, but the process was a long one.  I'll have to color this image up again, if for no other reason than I love coloring Jilly's hair!

Mia's Kite

Mia's Kite is the third image in the Sweet November Stamps May release.  I know we are not supposed to have favorites, but just look at what a joyful image she is...running through the Spring afternoon, kite flying high above.  To symbolically capture that delightful moment, I used a photo frame die cut from Taylored Expressions.  The kite and Mia's outfit are paper pieced.  Mia and her kite are popped up with foam dots.  A twine kite string, a little bling, and sparkled ribbon finished the card.

Emaline's Hot Air Balloon

Welcome to the second day of the May Sweet November Stamp release!  Today we find Emaline soaring overhead in a ribbon draped hot air balloon.  For this card, I paper pieced the hot air balloon and ribbon drape, then fussy cut the rest of the image as well.  The green hills are free form cut, the clouds were made with an old Quickutz die, and the butterflies were punched from hibiscus printed paper.  I added a line of shading on the hills, clouds, and ribbon drape.  The sentiment, Happy Day!, is a rub-on which I chose to keep the sentiment from overwhelming the scene.  The papers used in the card are a mix of Echo Park (still trying to use some of those many stashed pads).

Daphne's Ride and My Big News!

Whoo Hoo!  I can finally share my secret with you!  I am a Sweet November Gal!  Each month, along with Amy Young (the talented artist of Sweet November Stamps), and Nancy Thomas (cardmaker extraordinaire), I'll be designing cards to showcase the Sweet November stamp release.  I've admired the skill and creativity of both of these ladies for several years, and I'm thrilled to be a part of the team!  Thank you Amy! 

On to today's card and the first of four May 2013 Sweet November Stamps, Daphne's Ride.  Fairwee Daphne looks positively giddy to be hitching a ride on her winged friend.  So, what better background than this brightly colored, happy Paper Studio paper entitled Fun Bugs?  The bugs on the paper look nearly as happy as Daphne!  Btw, you're getting a "twofer" today.  I couldn't decide on color choices for the image, so I colored two and made them both into cards.

Hopping By

It's Monday and laundry day at my house.  We're in vacation countdown mode, and today will be my last post until after our trip.  This is my daughter's birthday card.  She's a frog fan, and this jubilant little guy from C.C. Designs at All That Scraps had to wish her a Happy Birthday.

I'll apologize in advance for not visiting your blogs or commenting on your lovely cards for the next few weeks, but I'm sure you'll understand.  Take care my crafty friends, and please stop back here on May 5th!  Aloha!

Happy Day and Happy Thoughts!

Hi all!  Hope you are enjoying your week.  I've been busy with a project, but...shhhhhh...it's a secret.  You'll need to check out my blog on May 5th for some BIG news!  I'm so excited!  Well, onto today's cards.  The first card uses Zip from Sweet November stamps.  The second card's image is Fibonacci, also from Sweet November stamps.  You can find Zip at the All That Scraps shop here and Fibonacci here.  Both are additions/friends to Sprite Penelope by the talented Amy Young.  The papers are from the MME Six by Six Happier pad (one of those many I hadn't used a sheet from).  For some reason, I'm on an "orange" spree at the moment.  Seems every image I color, I'm wanting to add the color orange.  To soften the overall look of the cards and keep them out of the Halloween realm, I printed the images and sentiments in a medium brown rather than the usual black.

Happy Birthday Lucille!

This card was made for a friend's birthday, so I couldn't show it before we left on vacation.  Now the card has been opened, we are home, and life should be returning to some semblance of normal before the holiday rush/crush begins!  Little Fairwee Jilly from Sweet November at All That Scraps, looks so happy to be celebrating a birthday.  The patterned paper did all of my embellishment work for me on the front of the card.  And for the inside (which I forgot to take a picture of), I cut out the cake pieces and scattered them around the Happy Birthday sentiment.

Just a Card Before I Go...

So much to do, and so little time!  Here's one last card before I go...to my daughter's wedding and my Autumn Vacation...yippee!  This is precious Nixie from Sweet November, available at All That Scraps.  Difficult to remember how many times I've used this image, but I know it's a bunch!  I've even used it on a scrapbook page along with her frosty sisters, Neva and Eira (see photo after card).  Of all the Sweet November images, these winter sprites are my favorites.  They are sweet and timeless.  I'm entering this card in the All That Scraps Challenge - Anything Goes.

ATS July Review

Today All That Scraps is having a review for the Sweet November July stamp releases.  My card once again features Garden Gnome Gertie.  Rather than the rubber stamp, this time I used the digi image and paper pieced her outfit.  I didn't have a problem until the little butterfly on her apron...yikes is it tiny!  I had to use my fingernails to try and hold the paper.  If I use this design again and decide to paper piece, I'll make the image a little bit bigger.  To make the green plants coordinate with the sprouts in Gertie's nut planter, I used the C.C. Designs die Mistletoe and cut the branches apart.  Gertie's frame is the Spellbinders Lacey Ovals.  The papers are from Pebbles Sunny Side, and the sentiments were cut from one of the papers in the pad.

Little Bit of Magic

Amy's done it again!  And she's once again allowed me to be a guest gal and showcase her new rubber stamp sets.  Her new Sweet November set, a Little Bit of Magic, is the cutest, most adorable to date!  There are nine, (yes nine!), precious little fairies along with a tiny flower, and the coordinating set has 11 sentiments.  How could you not fall in love with this set?!  It is amazing, magical, joyful, cheerful, playful, whimsical, cute, etc, etc, etc!   The moment I saw the stamps I had a vision for the card to create.  I've been wanting to make a tri-fold shutter card for ages, but hadn't found the right inspiration.  These little ladies were the perfect choice!  And they were such fun to color, cut, and craft into a card.  ;-)  In addition to fussy cutting the fairies, I fussy cut some butterflies from the coordinating paper.  Then I glittered the butterfly wings and glued just the bodies to the card.  To mirror the set sentiment "Capture the Magic", I used my computer to print out the "Have a Fairy Happy Birthday!" and inked the edges of both sentiments.  As for the quality of the photos...sorry folks...who knew taking a picture of a tri-fold card could be such a difficult task.  A big thank you to Pam Sparks, a contributor and design team member at ATS, who gave me some helpful tips for next time.  You can check out Pam's work (which is wonderfully creative) at her blog Expressions With Heart and at ATS.

Garden Gnome Girl Gertie

Last, but not least, here is Garden Gnome Girl Gertie!  She is my favorite of this release by Amy of Sweet November.  Gertie must be the nurturer of the bunch.  Look at how she cradles the fragile little shoots of new growth as she presents them for inspection.  Coloring her was fun, but challenging for me with all that open space.  Obviously some more practice is in order, but I still like the way she turned out.  After coloring her apron, it looked flat and very uninteresting, so I dabbed on some chalk ink to give it a little dimension and texture (not sure if it shows in the photo).  The papers and flower stickers are from an old set by Basic Grey titled Origins.  I'd been dying to use them, but hadn't found quite the right opportunity.  Gertie was the perfect fit!  From the moment I saw her, I knew she had to wear green and brown.  Since I couldn't decide which paper to use as her background, I chose 4!  It worked out well, so I might have to try that again on some future cards.

Garden Gnome Girl Myra

Introducing Garden Gnome Girl Myra!  Isn't she sweet?  Her little nut wheelbarrow is full to the brim with flowers freshly picked to bundle and send to a friend.  This adorable design by Amy of Sweet November needed little help from background papers so I used an old doodlebug blue dotted as a border to accent her blue dress and bonnet.  A free form paper pieced sun and a grass border die cut were the only other papers used.  Not wanting her apron to compete with the sun, I opted to make it striped yellow and white rather than solid yellow.  I chalked the sky with clouds, added three cute little puffed birds, stamped on the sentiment "Hello Friend", and voila, the card was complete!

Garden Gnome Girl Lucy

Whoo Hoo!  It's the Sweet November July release!  The July release features three Garden Gnome Girls.  Today we are showcasing Lucy.  The moment I saw the ladybug on her apron, I knew I had to use black and red on this image and card.  Her dress called out to be paper pieced and of course she had to have a matching band on her bonnet.  After cutting her out (thank you Amy for making this image so easy to cut out), she needed a background and this aqua with white flowers from Echo Park's Hello Summer coordinated quite well with the red with white flowers from My Mind's Eye Just Dreamy 2.  I designed the sentiment (which I've added to this post as a special freebie for you), and adhered it to a black cardstock circle.  A white die cut strip and a puffed ladybug finished the card.

Sweet November Guest Gal!

I'm a Sweet November Guest Gal for the July Release!  Thank you Amy!  I am so thrilled and honored!  I've loved Amy's designs since I first discovered blogland and began card making.  In fact, hers were the first designs I purchased.  Amy's characters are whimsical, playful, and sweet.  Her images and the stories that she creates to accompany them take you to a realm where wonder and magic thrive!  Pain, heartache, and strife do not exist in this world.  What a joy to escape to such a beautiful place, if only for a little while.  Amy's designs are fun, interesting, and easy to work with (both coloring and cutting).  And her blog...wow...her cards are AMAZING!  If you haven't yet checked it out (A Thousand Sheets of Paper), you totally should!

Since this post is all about Sweet November, my card had to include one of Amy's cute images.  This little one is Sweet Tadpole Lily.  Using Echo Park digital papers to set the scene, Lily could be at the beach, at a water park, at a pool, or at any other place where water and sun abound.

Christmas Card

It's difficult to think of Christmas when the temperatures outside are in the 80's and 90's, but since "hot and humid" is the norm here in SW Florida, I suppose it could be Christmas any time of year.  This little Snowflake Fairy, Neva, is one of Amy Young's Sweet November images available at All That Scraps.  She is my favorite of the myriad Amy has released!  Her face and body pose are so endearingly sweet.  She tugs at my heart and brings a smile to my face each time I look at her.  Have you ever marveled at the stillness and beauty of a chilly winter's night when the newly fallen snow is sparkling under a full moon?  Neva evokes memories of just such nights.   In an attempt to capture the essence of those nights, I colored her unitard in dark blue and used dark blue card stock which I embossed as a background.  And of course I couldn't forget the sparkles!   Her skirt and  snowflakes are covered with silver glitter, and gems were added to the points on her skirt and the centers of the snowflakes as well as scattered over the background.  I flocked her cuffs and sleeve caps. Ribbons of blue edged with silver and white tied in a bow finished off the card.

One Christmas card done,  many more to make!
